Wedding Traditions: Why The Groom Always Arrives First

We all know that the bride is always late, but how did this come about?

The groom was the first to arrive at the church as a symbol of his duty to lead the Bride into a life of love and happiness.

He was also first to say his vows, which enhanced his acknowledgment of position and responsibilities.

Today, this tradition continues, and usually the groom is left sweating at the altar while the bride is "fashionably late!" (Apparently on average this is 8 minutes!)
